Community Service Projects

Adopt-A-Highway Project

The Rotary Club of Jenkintown and the Kiwanis Club of Jenkintown co-sponsor the Adopt-A-Highway clean up project each year along a section of Route 611 (Old York Road) in Jenkintown. .  This has been an annual event for many years to help cleanse and beautify our community, while enhancing everyone's safety.

Come out and support our environmental project  each year!

International Service Projects

Ambassadorial Scholarship Programs

Ambassadorial Scholarships provide $25,000 for young people to do post-graduate work at a foreign university.  The Rotary Club of Jenkintown recently sponsored  Thomas Erat as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in Santiago, Chile.  He earned a Master's degree in Political Science with a specialization in International relations at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile.

Group Study Exchange Programs

Group study exchange sends teams of professional people around the world  to teach and to learn in the hosting country.  This year we have been working with Jasa Poriciello, who left the local area in January 2002 for Bangaladesh as a participant in this program.

International Youth Exchange Programs

Each year, the Rotary Club of Jenkintown hosts an exchange student and this year we were fortunate to welcome 19 year old Sophie Debaisieux from Brussels, Belgium.  Her host family was Pat and Jay Eager.  While in the USA, Sophie attended Abington High School, traveled to Washington D.C., New York City, Savannah GA, and Michigan.

Rotary International Foundation

Our club membership donates individually and collectively to the Rotary Foundation.  The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to support the efforts of Rotary International in the fulfillment of the Object of Rotary, Rotary's mission, and the achievement of world understanding and peace through local, national, and international humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs.

Rotary Night with the Philadelphia Phillies

This annual event raises funds for the Rotary Foundation.  For each ticket sold, nine dollars is donated to the Rotary Foundation.  The event is organized by Rotary District 7450, of which our club is a constituent part, and has raised $130,000 in aggregate since inception of the program.

Our very special, gourmet quality, citrus fruit is available to the general public during the Fall and Winter months when superior quality, native grown citrus fruit is in season.  We buy in bulk direct from the grower, but sell to the public considerably below retail prices.  All receipts from citrus sales are donated in full to charitable organizations screened and selected by the club.  For information on order dates, pickup dates, pricing, and varieties available please click hyperlink: Gourmet Citrus Fruit Order & Purchase Information
