Medical Equipment & Supplies  Shipped to  Iraq for Civilian use (2003)

During 2003, our club's International Service Committee assembled a large assortment of modern medical equipment and supplies from a variety of donors.  These materials had an estimated value of over $200,000.

These items were packed into a flat-bed truck container and shipped to woefully undersupplied medical facilities in Iraq, in cooperation with the government of the United States.  Government officials have requested that we do not publicize which medical facilities in Iraq ultimately received the equipment and supplies, but assured us that civilian Iraqis would be the sole beneficiaries.

This project was made possible through the generosity of Sloane Moving & Storage Company of Elkins Park (which stored the materials at considerable expense in their warehouse, but at no cost to the club), and the work of our International Service Committee.

Special Luncheon Meeting at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (November 19, 2002)

Hosted by our own Dr. Bill Rieber (a club member since 1948), this special luncheon meeting included a tour of the college and a special presentation about Research on Alzheimer's Disease.  We met at Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown and car-pooled to P.C.O.M. (located on City Line Avenue, in Philadelphia) on November 19, 2002.  The cost to our club members was (this is not a typo) nothing !  YES, Free !!  Club members were also welcome to bring a guest.

Our very special, gourmet quality, citrus fruit is available to the general public during the Fall and Winter months when superior quality, native grown citrus fruit is in season.  We buy in bulk direct from the grower, but sell to the public considerably below retail prices.  All receipts from citrus sales are donated in full to charitable organizations screened and selected by the club.  For information on order dates, pickup dates, pricing, and varieties available please click hyperlink: Gourmet Citrus Fruit Order & Purchase Information
